Using a barcode scanner, coded inventory numbers can be read and entered into ARTBUTLER very quickly and comfortably. This process allows you to create compilations of works on-site in a short space of time.
You may update the locations of your art works depending on whether they are sold on commission or are on their way back to an exhibition without having to manually search for and add works.
The usage is fast and simple:
- Create labels with barcodes
- Scan the barcodes with a scanner and transfer them to ARTBUTLER
Then you can continue working directly with the works and contacts in ARTBUTLER.
1. Create labels with barcodes
Your works must receive labels that contain barcodes. For example, by using the label export template with barcodes provided by us.
If barcodes do not appear on these labels, the necessary font is missing on the computer used. Please install the font, which is available for free download.

:- Connect your barcode scanner, depending on the interface (USB cable, wireless, Bluetooth), to your computer.
- Open the input dialog in ARTBUTLER (e.g. in a work group) with the barcode button and read the barcodes on the labels directly with the scanner.
- The works will automatically be listed in the table!
Important: In order to read out the barcode correctly, the scanner must be set to "Code39 Full ASCII" as scan configuration.
Tip: By entering inventory numbers directly, you may add multiple works and contacts to compilations via the barcode button.
